Ramón Ismael Medina Bello (born on April 29, 1966) is a former professional football player from Argentina. People often called him El Mencho. He played as a striker, which means he was a player who mainly tried to score goals. He played for many clubs in Argentina and also in Japan.
Playing for Clubs
Ramón Medina Bello was born in Gualeguay, a city in the Entre Ríos area of Argentina. He started his football career in 1986 with a team called Racing Club.
In 1989, he moved to River Plate, one of Argentina's biggest football clubs. He played there until 1993. During this time, he also became part of the Argentine national team. With the national team, he helped them win the 1991 Copa América tournament.
After playing in Argentina, Medina Bello went to Japan. He joined the Yokohama Marinos team in 1994. He played there for two years, scoring many goals. In 1996, he returned to River Plate in Argentina.
He retired from playing in 1999 while with Talleres. However, he came back to play for a few more years. He played for Dock Sud and later for Juventud Unida before retiring for good in 2005.
Playing for Argentina
Ramón Medina Bello was an important player for the Argentine national team. He played in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. This is a huge international football tournament.
He played in two matches during the 1994 World Cup:
- On June 30, 1994, Argentina played against Bulgaria. Argentina lost 0–2. Ramón came into the game in the 67th minute.
- On July 3, 1994, Argentina played against Romania. Argentina lost 2–3. He came into this game in the 63rd minute.
He also helped Argentina win the Copa América twice. This is a major football tournament for South American countries. He was part of the winning teams in 1991 and 1993.
