Remon Castrocol was an important leader in the church who lived a long time ago. He was the Bishop of Zaragoza from 1201 to 1216. A bishop is a high-ranking religious leader in charge of a special area called a diocese. Zaragoza is a city in Spain.

What Did a Bishop Do?

In Remon Castrocol's time, bishops were not just religious leaders. They also played a big role in society and even in politics. They helped manage lands, settle disagreements, and sometimes even advised kings.

Helping Communities and Drawing Borders

Remon Castrocol was known for helping the people in his area. In 1205, he gave special gifts to villages near Daroca. These villages included Forcallo, Fussed, and Tramasaguas. This showed his care for the communities under his leadership.

He also worked to keep things organized. On June 13, 1210, he made an important agreement with Gombal, who was the Bishop of Tortosa. They worked together to clearly mark the borders between their church areas, or dioceses. This agreement helped define the limits for places like Calaceite, Lledo, Arens de Lledó, and Algars, all near Tortosa. Setting clear borders helped prevent arguments and made sure everyone knew which bishop was in charge of which area.

End of His Time

Remon Castrocol served as Bishop of Zaragoza for many years. He passed away in 1216.
