Randolph Duane Ross Jr. (born January 1, 2001) is an American athlete. He is known for running the 400 metres race. Randolph competed for the North Carolina A&T Aggies in college. He won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Randolph Ross's Athletics Journey
Randolph Ross is coached by his father, Duane Ross. His father was also an Olympian, competing in the 110-meter hurdles.
Early College Success
In February 2021, Randolph showed amazing speed. He ran the 400 meters in 45.21 seconds. This was the fastest time in the nation that year. The very next day, he ran the 200 meters in 20.50 seconds. This also put him at the top spot for that distance.
Randolph competed in the 2021 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. He finished second in the 400 meters. Later that year, he won the event at the 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He set a world-leading time of 43.85 seconds. This time made him one of the fastest 400-meter runners ever.
Olympic Gold Medal
Just nine days after his NCAA win, Randolph qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics. He earned his spot by finishing third at the US Olympic Trials. The Olympics were held in Tokyo in 2021. Randolph was part of the United States team. This team won a gold medal in the 4 × 400 meter relay race.
Continuing Achievements
In 2022, Randolph continued his winning streak. He became the NCAA champion in the 400 meters. He won both the indoor and outdoor titles that year.
Later in 2022, Randolph faced a challenge. He was unable to compete in the 2022 World Athletics Championships. He was also unable to compete for a period of three years, starting from July 1, 2022.
