Randel Huston Parton (born December 15, 1953 – died January 21, 2021), known as Randy Parton, was an American singer, songwriter, actor, and businessman. He was the younger brother of famous country music star Dolly Parton.

Randy Parton's Life and Music

Randy Parton was born in Sevierville, Tennessee. He was one of twelve children in his family. His parents were Avie Lee Caroline and Robert Lee Parton Sr. Randy had many siblings, including his older sisters, the singers Dolly Parton and Stella Parton. His younger sister, Rachel Dennison, became an actress.

Randy Parton was a talented musician. In 1982, he was the first artist to record the song "Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)". Two years later, in 1984, the popular band Alabama recorded the same song. Their version became a huge hit, reaching No. 1 on the music charts.

In 1984, Randy also sang a song for the movie soundtrack of Rhinestone. His sister Dolly Parton starred in that movie. Randy also played the bass guitar for his sister Dolly during her performances.

The Roanoke Rapids Theater

Randy Parton was also known for a theater in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. In 2007, he made a deal to manage and perform in a new theater there. The theater was even named after him for a time.

However, the theater faced some challenges. It was hard to attract enough visitors, and there were disagreements about how the theater was being run. Randy Parton's agreement with the city ended on January 8, 2008. After that, the theater was renamed the Roanoke Rapids Theater.

Later Life and Passing

Randy Parton continued to be involved in music and business throughout his life. He passed away on January 21, 2021, at the age of 67. He died from cancer.
