Rashaan Harvey Nall, born on February 25, 1980, is an American artist. He is known for his work as a writer, director, and actor. He has appeared in many movies and TV shows.

Early Life

Rashaan Nall grew up in Altadena, California, near Los Angeles. He went to South Pasadena High School, where he played football. Later, he attended John Muir High School. He was then accepted into the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. After high school, Rashaan went to California State University at Northridge. He always kept working towards his dream of being in entertainment.

Acting Roles

Rashaan Nall started his career doing voiceovers. He lent his voice to the animated series Captain Planet. He also appeared in many TV commercials for brands like McDonald's and Toyota.

He later got a regular role as Jared Moore in the TV series Social Studies. This show was about students at a special boarding school. Rashaan also had recurring roles on popular shows. These included Hangin' with Mr. Cooper and The Bernie Mac Show. He also appeared in the mystery drama Cracker.

Rashaan has been in feature films too. He was in HBO's Tyson and Disney's Principal Takes a Holiday. He also appeared in movies like Fakin' the Funk and The Wash. He guest-starred on many TV series. Some of these were Touched by an Angel and Sister, Sister. He also appeared in Emmy-winning shows like NYPD Blue and ER.

He played memorable comedic roles. One was Stray Bullet in Leprechaun in the Hood. He also played Floyd in Snipes and Ronald in The Wash. His time on The Wash inspired him to try stand-up comedy.

Rashaan is one of the original poets from "The Poetry Lounge" in Los Angeles. His screenplay, The Pyn, was a finalist in the HBO Urbanworld film festival in 2007. He also wrote the screenplays for Menage' Noir and Jesus Lovin' Buddhist. For these films, he also worked as a producer, director, and editor.

Directing Work

Rashaan's first directing job was a play. It was a theatrical version of part of Geography of a Horse Dreamer. He directed it at the State Playhouse in Los Angeles. He also directed the satirical film Jesus Lovin' Buddhist. Additionally, he directed the music video "Grrr" for the artist Philly Swain. He used the name Ra Cinematic for this project.

Editing Skills

Rashaan learned editing by practicing at Otis College of Art and Design. His first official short film as an editor was Menage' Noir. He also edited his film Jesus Lovin' Buddhist. This movie explores religion and race in a small-town bar. In 2011, Rashaan also edited special projects for fashion designer Christian Audigier.

Rashaan Nall currently lives between Los Angeles, California, and Paris, France.

Rashaan grew up in a Christian Baptist background. He also practices Kundalini yoga and Vipassana meditation.

Charity Work

Rashaan has volunteered as an assistant teacher. He worked at Marvin Avenue Elementary School with Equal Opportunity Productions (EqOp). This is a non-profit arts organization. He also spent three years as an assistant teacher at Faith Acting Studios. He also taught at All About Kids Acting Conservatory.
