Rashaan Harvey Nall, born on February 25, 1980, is an American actor, writer, and director. He has worked in movies, TV shows, and theater. He is known for his roles in various TV series and films.

Early Life and Education

Rashaan Nall grew up in Altadena, California, near Los Angeles. He went to South Pasadena High School, where he played football. Later, he attended John Muir High School and was accepted into the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. After high school, Rashaan studied at California State University at Northridge. He always kept working towards his dream of a career in entertainment.

Acting Roles and TV Shows

Rashaan Nall started his career doing voiceovers for the cartoon series Captain Planet. He also did voice work for TV commercials, including McDonald's and Toyota.

He got a regular role as Jared Moore in the TV series Social Studies. This show was about students at a boarding school. Rashaan also appeared often on popular shows like Hangin' with Mr. Cooper and The Bernie Mac Show. He also guest-starred on NYPD Blue and ER.

Movies and Film Appearances

Rashaan has been in several movies. These include Tyson for HBO and Dancing in September. He also appeared in The Walt Disney Company film Principal.

He played memorable characters in comedy films. He was Stray Bullet in Leprechaun in the Hood. Rashaan also played Floyd in Snipes and Ronald in the movie The Wash. Working on The Wash helped him discover his love for stand-up comedy.

Rashaan showed his acting range in the Emmy-winning series The Shield. He also starred opposite singer Toni Braxton in the VH1 film Play'd: A Hip Hop Story.

He had a recurring role as Walt Powell on the UPN show One on One. Walt was a barber and stand-up comedian. Rashaan continued this role in the spin-off series Cuts. He also played Daryl on the IFC series The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman.

Later, Rashaan took on a serious role as Cloudy in the film Spoken Word. He worked with Victor Nuñez, the writer and director of the Oscar-winning film Ulee's Gold.

Writing and Screenplays

Rashaan Nall is also a talented writer. He was one of the first poets at "The Poetry Lounge" in Los Angeles. His screenplay, The Pyn, was a finalist in the HBO Urbanworld film festival in 2007.

He also wrote the screenplays for two films, Menage' Noir and Jesus Lovin' Buddhist. For Jesus Lovin' Buddhist, he also produced, directed, and edited the movie himself.

Directing Projects

Rashaan's first directing job was a play. He directed a part of Sam Shepard's play Geography of a Horse Dreamer. This was performed at the State playhouse in Los Angeles.

He also directed the movie Jesus Lovin' Buddhist, which is a funny take on a Spaghetti Western. Rashaan directed the music video "Grrr" for the hip-hop artist Philly Swain. For this, he used the name Ra Cinematic.

Editing Work

Rashaan first learned about editing by visiting the editing room at Otis College of Art and Design. His first official short film that he edited was called Menage' Noir.

He also edited his film Jesus Lovin' Buddhist. This movie explores religion and race in a small-town bar. In 2011, Rashaan also worked on special projects for fashion designer Christian Audigier.

Personal Life

Rashaan Nall currently lives between Los Angeles, California, and Paris, France.

Spirituality and Beliefs

Rashaan grew up in a Christian Baptist family. He now also practices Kundalini yoga and Vipassana meditation.

Charity and Teaching

Rashaan has volunteered his time to help others. He was an assistant teacher at Marvin Avenue Elementary School. He worked with a non-profit arts group called Equal Opportunity Productions (EqOp). Rashaan also spent three years as an assistant teacher at Faith acting studios. He also taught at the All About Kids Acting conservatory.
