Raymond Patrick Blacklock (born April 6, 1955 – died October 28, 2020) was an Australian rugby league player. He was known for playing as a winger in the 1970s and 1980s. Rugby league is a popular team sport in Australia.

Ray Blacklock's Rugby Journey
Ray Blacklock had an exciting career playing for three different teams. He was a talented winger, known for scoring tries.
Starting with the Penrith Panthers
Ray began his professional rugby league journey with the Penrith Panthers. He joined their top team, called "first grade," in 1976. He played for the Panthers for four seasons, from 1976 to 1980.
In 1978, Ray was the captain of the Panthers' Under-23s team. This team won the premiership, which means they were the champions of their league that year. It was a big achievement for him and his team.
Moving to the Newtown Jets
After his time with the Panthers, Ray Blacklock moved to the Newtown Jets. He played for the Jets for two seasons, in 1981 and 1982.
In 1981, Ray played as a winger in the Grand Final. This is the championship game of the season. His team, the Newtown Jets, played against the Parramatta Eels. The Eels won that game, but playing in a Grand Final is a major highlight for any player.
Final Years in Canberra
Ray Blacklock then joined the Canberra Raiders for his last two seasons. He played for them in 1983 and 1984 before he retired from professional rugby league.
Ray Blacklock was also the uncle of another famous rugby league player, Nathan Blacklock. Nathan played for the St. George Illawarra Dragons.
Ray Blacklock's Later Life
Ray Blacklock passed away on October 28, 2020, when he was 65 years old. He had been battling a serious illness called multiple system atrophy for five years. This illness affects different systems in the body.
