The company Red Hat used to offer Red Hat Linux to everyone, and many people used it. The very last version released to the public was Red Hat Linux 9 in April 2003. After that, Red Hat decided to stop making new versions of Red Hat Linux.

Instead, they started offering Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which is a paid version. Even though RHEL costs money, there are some free versions available. For example, CentOS is a free system that is very similar to RHEL but doesn't have Red Hat's official branding or logos.

Even today, the Red Hat Linux 7.3 version is still used around the world. It is often found on computer servers and workstations because it is very stable.

What is Fedora?

Around 2005, the Red Hat company started a new project called Fedora Core. This project was designed to be a place to test new computer technologies and ideas.

Today, it's just called 'Fedora'. The latest version of Fedora is like a testing ground for what will be included in the next big release of RHEL. This means new features are tried out in Fedora first before they become part of the more stable RHEL.
