One of his most famous actions was his role in the Dreyfus Affair. This was a big political scandal in France where an army officer, Alfred Dreyfus, was wrongly accused of treason. Joseph Reinach was one of the main people who fought to prove Dreyfus's innocence, even when it was very unpopular to do so. Adolf Reinach (1883–1917) was a German philosopher. He was part of a group of thinkers who developed a way of thinking called phenomenology. This philosophy tries to understand how things appear to us and how we experience them.

Adolf Reinach was particularly interested in how we understand social actions, like promising or commanding. He wrote about the "a priori foundations of civil law," which means he explored the basic ideas that make up our laws, even before they are written down. Sadly, he died young during World War I.
