Francisca Remedios Loza Alvarado (born August 21, 1949 – died December 14, 2018) was an amazing Bolivian artist, TV host, and politician. She was born in the city of La Paz, Bolivia.
Her Life and Work
Remedios Loza made history in Bolivia. In September 1965, she heard her native Aymara language on the radio for the first time. This inspired her to become a television presenter. She was the first person of indigenous descent to become a member of the Bolivian National Congress, which is like the country's parliament.
Loza was a key member of a political party called Conscience of Fatherland (CONDEPA). She represented the region of La Paz in the National Congress from 1989 to 2002. This means she helped make important decisions for her country for many years.
She even ran for president of Bolivia twice! She was part of the CONDEPA presidential team in 1993 and again in 1997.
Remedios Loza passed away on December 14, 2018, in La Paz, at the age of 69, after battling stomach cancer.
