The name "Remson" came from an early land speculator. A land speculator is someone who buys land, hoping its value will increase so they can sell it later for a profit. This particular Remson was from New York. He bought land in this area not long after it was divided up by the Connecticut Land Company. The Connecticut Land Company was a group that owned and sold large areas of land in the early days of Ohio.
