Rena Lalgie is a British government official. She served as the Governor of Bermuda from December 2020 to January 2025. She made history as the first woman and the first person of African-Caribbean background to hold this important position in Bermuda.
Rena Lalgie's Career
Early Government Roles
Rena Lalgie has worked in many different parts of the British government. She held various jobs in departments like the Home Office. This office is in charge of keeping the country safe. She also worked in the Cabinet Office, which helps the Prime Minister and other government ministers.
Leading Trade and Finance
Later, Rena Lalgie became a director at UK Trade & Investment. This group helps British businesses trade with other countries. It is now known as the Department for International Trade.
She then became the head of a special office called the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI). This office was created in 2016. Its job is to make sure that financial rules, called sanctions, are followed. These rules help stop money from being used for bad things.
