Early Life and Music Career
Rena Sinakin was born in Miami, Florida, in the United States. She studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
In 1973, Rena started her music career by recording an album called Make Music with Capitol Records. Later, she moved to Atlantic Records and worked with famous music producers like Ahmet Ertegun and Leon Huff.
Rena was a pioneer in the music industry. She became the first woman to produce music for a major artist! This happened when she worked on the album The One and Only (1978) for the legendary group Gladys Knight and the Pips. She also produced music for John Lennon's band, Elephant's Memory, in 1980. Rena was also an Executive Producer for McFadden and Whitehead's album Movin' On.
Rena also ran her own place called Music City Recording Studio. There, she worked with many talented singers and songwriters. In the early 2000s, she was the CEO of a company called Fuge Entertainment.
Producing Live Shows and Art
Besides working in studios, Rena Sinakin has produced many live shows for famous artists like Jackson Browne, Melba Moore, and Betty Wright. These shows took place at well-known venues such as the Lincoln Center and the Apollo Theater.
