Resorts World Miami is a huge building project planned for Miami, Florida, in the USA. A big company from Malaysia called Genting Group wants to build it. This project is planned for the Arts & Entertainment District in downtown Miami.
It's one of the biggest projects ever in Florida. It is planned to be about 10,000,000 square feet (930,000 m2) big. The cost is estimated to be around US$3.2 billion. The project has been put on hold many times. This is because laws about casinos and gambling in Florida have not passed. As of 2017, the land is empty, and building has not started.
To help get permission for the casino, Genting Group offered to build a new transport system. This system, called BayLink, would be a monorail. It would connect Miami to Miami Beach. It would also link to a new Metromover station at the project site. The Metromover is a type of public train system in Miami.
What's Inside the Plan?
The plan for Resorts World Miami includes a large eight-story base building. It also features several tall, stylish skyscrapers. This project is planned for land that Genting bought. This land used to have the Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald newspaper buildings. These buildings were taken down. The nearby Omni International Mall site is also part of the plan.
The new development would have many exciting things. There would be places to eat and dance. It would also have a fancy shopping area with many stores. There would be spaces for entertainment and big meetings. One of the largest swimming pools in the world is also planned. The project also includes two tall apartment buildings. Each of these buildings would have 1000 homes.
