Rhinoceros Tap facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Rhinoceros Tap: and 14 Other Seriously Silly Songs is a fun music album for kids that came out in 1996. It was created by Boynton Recordings, a company owned by the famous author and illustrator Sandra Boynton.

Sandra Boynton wrote all the songs with Michael Ford. She wrote the words, and Michael Ford helped with the music and sang backup. Adam Bryant was the main singer on the album. You can find this album on music streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify.

Sandra Boynton decided to make this album because she wasn't happy with the children's music available at the time. She wanted to create songs that reminded her of her own childhood. She also hoped that adults wouldn't get tired of listening to the songs over and over again!

In 2004, the album was re-released. This new version came with an improved book and was sometimes called Rhinoceros Tap: 15 Seriously Silly Songs or just Rhinoceros Tap.

Album Success

The album was very popular! On September 28, 2007, it was certified "gold" by the RIAA. This means it sold over 500,000 copies, which is a huge achievement for any album.

The International Rhino Foundation also loved the album. They put it and its book on their list of "Books About Rhinos That We Love." They described it as "Just Plain Fun," which shows how enjoyable it is for kids.

Songs and Books

One of the songs on the album is "Barnyard Dance." The words for this song came from a book Sandra Boynton wrote in 1993 with the same name. That book was so popular that it became one of the best-selling children's books ever!

Sandra Boynton later turned two other songs from the album into books. These were "Perfect Piggies" and "Tickle Time," both released in 2012. This shows how much people loved her songs and characters.
