Ricardo Alberto Darín (born 16 January 1957) is a famous actor, film director, and film producer from Argentina. Many people think he is one of the best and most active actors in Argentine cinema.
Ricardo Darín is known as one of the biggest movie stars in his country. For many years, he acted in TV shows and became very popular as a young main actor. Some of his most famous movie roles include Nine Queens (2000), Son of the Bride (2001), Moon of Avellaneda (2004), The Aura (2005), and The Signal (2007). The Signal was also the first movie he directed.
He starred in The Secret in Their Eyes (2009), a film that won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2011, he received the Diamond Award from the Konex Foundation. This is a very important award in Argentina. It recognized him as the most important person in entertainment in his country over the last ten years. Starting Out in Acting
Ricardo Darín began acting in theater when he was just ten years old. He performed alongside his parents. By the time he was sixteen, he was already a regular on television in Argentina. He appeared in popular TV shows like Alta comedia and Estación Retiro. He was supported by Alberto Migré, who was a major TV producer in Argentina back then.
Becoming a TV Star in the 1980s
In the 1980s, Ricardo Darín continued to work with Alberto Migré. He became known as one of the galancitos, which means "charmers" in Spanish. This was a group of young actors who turned popular TV shows into theater plays. The galancitos were very famous across Argentina. In 1987, Darín starred in the TV show Estrellita mía. Two years later, he was in Rebelde.
In the early 1990s, he started acting in comedies. This led to his biggest TV success. He co-starred in a new version of the 1970s TV show Mi cuñado (1993–1996). He acted alongside Luis Brandoni in this show.
