Ricardo Eufemio Molinari (born March 23, 1898 – died July 31, 1996) was an important Argentine poet. He was born in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina. Sadly, he became an orphan when he was only five years old. Molinari wrote many books of poetry during his long life. He is remembered as one of Argentina's most famous poets.
About Ricardo Molinari's Life
Ricardo Molinari published his first book, El Imaginero, in 1927. He also wrote for an exciting new magazine called Martín Fierro. This magazine was known for its "avant-garde" style, meaning it was very modern and experimental for its time. Molinari worked alongside other famous Argentine writers, including Jorge Luis Borges, who became a good friend.
In 1933, Molinari traveled to Spain. There, he met a group of famous Spanish writers and artists known as the Generation of '27. These artists were also known for their new and modern ideas in literature and art.
After he got married, Molinari worked for the National Congress of Argentina. This is like the government's main meeting place where laws are made. He worked there until he retired.
Awards and Recognition
Ricardo Molinari received many honors for his poetry. In 1958, he won the Argentine National Prize for Poetry. This was for his book called Unida Noche. Ten years later, in 1968, he became a member of the country's Academia Argentina de Letras. This is a very important group that works to protect and promote the Spanish language and literature in Argentina.
One of his most well-known books is La escudilla, which he published in 1973. Later, in 1975, a collection of almost all his poems was published. It was called Las sombras del pájaro tostado.
