His Acting Career
From 1710 to 1724, Richard Cross often performed at the Drury Lane theatre in London. This was one of the most famous theatres of its time. For a short period, he also acted at the Queen's Theatre in Haymarket.
Richard Cross played many different characters in plays. For example, he acted as Charino in a play called Love Makes a Man and as Major Bombard in The Old Mode and the New. He also played Sir Hary Atall in The Double Gallant and Slouch in The Man's Bewitched. Later, he appeared as Sir Humphrey in The What D'Ye Call It and as a Constable in The Contrivances. One of his other roles was Carbuncle in The Country Lasses.
It is also thought that another actor named Richard Cross was his son. Richard Cross likely had a sister named Letitia Cross, who was also an actress.
