Early Life and Family
Richard Dyott was the son of another man also named Richard Dyott, who lived at Freeford Manor. His mother was Anne Greene. When his father passed away in 1677, young Richard took over the family estate.
In 1685, on September 20, Richard Dyott married Frances Inge. She was the daughter of William Inge from Thorpe Constantine. Richard and Frances had six children together: two sons and four daughters.
A Career in Politics
Richard Dyott was a Member of Parliament, often called an MP. This means he was chosen by people to represent them in the House of Commons. The House of Commons is where laws are made and important decisions for the country are discussed.
Dyott was first elected as an MP for Lichfield in 1690. He served in this role for five years, until 1695.
