In his will, which is a document stating his wishes after his death, Sir Richard Hansard gave instructions for important buildings to be constructed in Lifford. He wanted his helpers to build a church, a school, and a school house. He also set aside money from his lands to make sure there was enough to pay a schoolmaster and other important people in the town.
