In 2012, he became the interim police chief. This means he took over the job temporarily. On December 6, 2012, he was officially named the chief of police.
A Famous Moment
Rick Hite was involved in a famous event in Baltimore history. On March 29, 1984, he was working to protect the mayor of Baltimore, William Donald Schaefer. In the early morning hours, Hite was the one who told the mayor that the Baltimore Colts football team was moving to Indianapolis. This was a big surprise for the city of Baltimore.
