Richard Ivanovich Kosolapov (Russian: Ричард Иванович Косолапов) was a Soviet and Russian scientist, writer, and thinker. He was a professor at Moscow State University (MSU). He studied philosophy and wrote many books. He lived from 1930 to 2020.

Richard Kosolapov's Life Story

Kosolapov was born in a town called Novonikolayevsky in Russia. He went to Moscow State University and studied philosophy. He graduated in 1955. He continued his studies there, earning advanced degrees in philosophy in 1962 and 1971. He also taught philosophy at the university from 1961 to 1964. In 1974, he became a professor.

Working for the Government

From 1966 to 1974, Kosolapov worked for the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. This was a very important group in the Soviet government. He worked in their department that shared information with the public. He even became the deputy head of this department.

Later, in 1974, he became the First Deputy Chief Editor of Pravda. This was a major newspaper in the Soviet Union. Then, in 1976, he became the Editor-in-Chief of Kommunist. This was an important magazine. He held this job until 1986. While he was at Kommunist, he was chosen twice to be part of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. This showed he was a very influential person.

Returning to University

In 1986, Kosolapov went back to Moscow State University. He was the acting Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy for a short time. After that, he became a professor teaching about historical materialism until 1991. From 1991 until 2015, he worked as a Senior Researcher.

Awards and Recognition

Richard Kosolapov received several important awards from the Soviet Union. In 1971, he received the Order of the Red Banner of Labour. In 1980, he got the Order of the October Revolution. His highest award was the Order of Lenin in 1984. This was the top award for civilians in the Soviet Union.

Richard Kosolapov passed away on November 15, 2020. He was 90 years old.
