The School's Story
Ridge Hill High School was built in 1934. It was designed to be a place where African-American students could get a good education during a time when schools were separated by race.
Building a Place to Learn
The school building is quite large and has a unique "H" shape when you look at it from above. It was designed by architects Fletcher B. Dressler and Samuel L. Smith. Inside, it had a big room that could be used for many things, like assemblies or events. There were also six classrooms where students learned different subjects.
From School to Community Hub
Ridge Hill High School served as a high school for students until the 1956-1957 school year. After that, it continued to be an important part of the community. Today, it's known as the Ridge Spring Star Community Center. It's a place where people can gather, learn, and take part in different activities.
