History

Ringgold has a short but interesting history. A post office was opened here in 1914. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. This post office helped the people living in Ringgold get their letters and packages. It stayed open for about 20 years, closing in 1934.

The community was named to honor Samuel Ringgold. He was an important officer in the United States Army. He was known as a hero from the Battle of Palo Alto. This battle happened during the U.S.-Mexican War.
