Robert Danhi (born July 19, 1970) is an American chef and food writer. He is known for his knowledge of Southeast Asian cooking. Robert Danhi also wrote the highly praised cookbook Southeast Asian Flavors.

Becoming a Chef: Robert Danhi's Journey

Robert Danhi grew up in New York, United States. He started working in kitchens when he was just 15 years old, washing dishes. He worked hard and moved up to become a sous chef (a head assistant chef) in different restaurants in Los Angeles.

In 1991, he earned his degree from the Culinary Institute of America in New York. After that, he worked as an Executive Chef (the main chef) in Los Angeles and Hawaii. Later, Robert decided to teach. He became a chef instructor and director at a culinary school in Southern California. In 1998, he joined the Culinary Institute of America again, this time as a teacher.

Robert Danhi's Work in Food

In 2005, Robert Danhi started his own company, Chef Danhi & Co Inc. His company helps other food businesses. They work on creating new food products and menus. They also help with training and teaching about food.

Robert often gives talks at food events. He shares his knowledge with other chefs and food experts. He has also written popular cookbooks:

  • Southeast Asian Flavors (published in 2008)
  • Easy Thai Cooking (published in 2012)

Robert Danhi has also been on TV. In 2014, he hosted a 26-episode TV show called Taste of Vietnam. The show explored different parts of Vietnam and its food. He was also a main judge on the first season of Top Chef Vietnam.

Robert Danhi's Life

Robert Danhi lives in El Segundo, Los Angeles. He is married to Esther Danhi, who is from Malaysia.
