Robert Tilson Deane (born November 29, 1745, died June 25, 1818) was an important Irish politician. He was known as Sir Robert Deane, 6th Baronet from 1770 to 1781. Later, he became the 1st Baron Muskerry.
Robert was the son of Sir Robert Deane, 5th Baronet of Dromore. When his father passed away in 1770, Robert took over his father's title as a Baronet.

Robert's Political Career
Robert Tilson Deane was very active in Irish politics.
Serving in Parliament
From 1771 to 1776, he represented the area of Carysfort in the Irish House of Commons. This was like being a member of parliament today. After that, from 1776 to 1781, he represented County Cork.
Other Important Roles
In 1773, Robert was chosen as the High Sheriff of County Cork. This was a key role in law enforcement for the county. In 1777, he joined the Irish Privy Council. This was a group of important advisors to the King in Ireland. From 1780 until his death, he also served as the Custos Rotulorum of County Limerick. This role meant he was the chief record keeper for Limerick County.
Becoming a Baron
In 1781, Robert Tilson Deane was given a special title. He became a Baron Muskerry in the County of Cork. This made him a member of the Peerage of Ireland, a group of high-ranking nobles. In 1783, he was also chosen as the Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of Ireland. He held this important position for two years.

Marriage and Children
In 1775, Lord Muskerry married Anne FitzMaurice. She was the daughter of John FitzMaurice. Later, he inherited Springfield Castle in County Limerick from his father-in-law.

Lord Muskerry passed away in June 1818 when he was 72 years old. His oldest son, John, took over his titles. Lady Muskerry, his wife, passed away later in 1830.
