In 1776, Robert started studying at St John's College, Cambridge. In the same year, he received land and money from his grandfather, Robert Tighe.
Robert Tighe became a member of the Royal Society in 1793. This society is a very old and respected group that promotes science. He passed away on May 21, 1835.

Second Marriage
Later, Robert Tighe married Anna Dilkes. She was the sister of a military leader, Major-General William Thomas Dilkes. Anna passed away in 1823.
