Robin Dale Jones (born February 2, 1954 – died July 16, 2018) was an American professional basketball player. He was known for helping the Portland Trail Blazers win their first ever league title in 1977.
Early Life and Career
Robin Jones was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He loved playing basketball from a young age. He played college basketball for the Saint Louis Billikens from 1972 to 1975.
Playing in the NBA
Jones joined the Portland Trail Blazers in 1976. He played as a power forward. He came off the bench in 63 games. His team won their first ever league title in 1977. This was a big achievement for the team.
The next season, Robin Jones moved to the Houston Rockets. He played 12 games for them.
Playing in Europe
After his time in the NBA, Jones went to Europe. He played basketball there for five years. He played for teams like Olympique Antibes in France. He also played for Team Talbot, Guildford in the United Kingdom.
Life After Basketball
After playing basketball, Robin Jones returned to the United States. He started a new career in marketing. He worked for a company called Anheuser-Busch. He became a director of marketing in Illinois.
In 1995, Robin Jones had a stroke. He retired from his marketing job the next year. He passed away on July 16, 2018, in Chicago.
