What is the Robinson Center?
The Robinson Center has two main parts. One is the Robinson Center Music Hall. The other is a modern conference center. Together, they make a great space for many different activities.
The Music Hall: A Historic Place
The Music Hall is the oldest part of the center. It was built in 1939. Architects Eugene J. Stern and Wittenberg & Delony designed it. The building has cool columns on its south side. These columns look like the old Greek Revival style. This style is also seen on the Old State House Museum nearby.
In 2007, the Music Hall became a historic landmark. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's an important building that should be protected.
What Happens at the Music Hall?
The Music Hall is a busy place for performances. It's the main stage for the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. They play beautiful music there. You can also see popular Broadway plays and musicals. Many different concerts happen throughout the year too. The Music Hall can seat 2,222 people. That's a lot of seats for a big show!
The Modern Conference Center
The newer part of the Robinson Center is the conference center. It faces north and looks out over the Arkansas River. This part has many meeting rooms. It also has large ballrooms. There's even a terrace. These spaces are perfect for many events. People use them for weddings, big meetings, and conventions. Different groups and organizations hold their events here.
Who Manages the Center?
The Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau takes care of the Robinson Center. This is a part of the city government. Their main offices are in the Cromwell Building. This building is right across the plaza from the Music Hall. They work to make sure the center runs smoothly.
