The Rochester Rhinos are a professional soccer team from Rochester, New York, in the United States. They started in 1996 as the Rochester Raging Rhinos. This team used to play in the United Soccer League, which is a high level of soccer in the U.S. Right now, the team is taking a break from playing.
In 2008, they changed their name to the Rochester Rhinos. A very special thing about them is that they are the only team not in Major League Soccer (MLS) to have won the U.S. Open Cup. This is a big soccer tournament in the United States.
The Team's Break
On November 30, 2017, the Rochester Rhinos announced they would not play in 2018. They needed to find more money to keep the team going. This break was to help them get stronger for the future.
Future Plans
Later, on August 22, 2018, the team shared exciting news. They plan to build a new stadium. They also announced they would join a new league called USL League One by the year 2020. These plans show they are working to come back to the field.
