History of Rockport
Rockport was first planned out and marked on a map in 1836. This process is called "platting." It means that the streets, lots, and public areas were officially laid out.
For many years, Rockport had its own post office. This post office was special because it was called "Cranberry." It opened in 1849 and helped people send and receive mail for over 50 years before it closed in 1901.
