Rod Rocket was an animated TV show that first aired in 1963. It was one of the first cartoons made by a company called Filmation. Each episode was short, about five minutes long, and ended on a cliffhanger. This meant you had to watch the next part to find out what happened! Five of these short parts made up one full story. TV channels could show these short segments every day or put them together to create longer, half-hour shows once a week.

The Story of Rod Rocket

The show follows a brave boy named Rod Rocket and his best friend, Joey. They go on exciting space adventures in their spaceship, the Little Argo. A smart old scientist, Professor Argus, sends them on these missions. He stays back home with his granddaughter, Cassie, waiting for their updates. While Rod and Joey are exploring space, they often run into two clumsy space travelers who cause trouble.
