Early Life and Education

Rod Flower went to Woodbridge School when he was younger. After that, he went to the University of Sheffield. In 1971, he finished his studies there with a top-level degree in Physiology. Physiology is the study of how living things, like our bodies, work.

Career and Achievements

Professor Flower has had a long and successful career in science. From 1985 to 1990, he was in charge of the Pharmacology department at the University of Bath. Pharmacology is the study of how medicines affect the body.

Later, from 1994 to 2007, he was a special research fellow at a place called Wellcome. This meant he focused on important scientific research projects.

Leading a Scientific Society

From 2000 to 2003, Professor Flower was the President of the British Pharmacological Society. This is a very important group for scientists who study medicines in the UK. Being president means he was a leader for many other pharmacologists and helped guide the society's work.
