Rolf Just Nilsen (born August 31, 1931, died May 9, 1981) was a famous Norwegian singer and actor. He was especially good at imitating voices. Rolf worked in many theatres, including Studioteatret, Chat Noir, Edderkoppen Theatre, Oslo Nye Teater, and Det Norske Teatret. He also performed on radio and television, making people laugh and entertain them.

Rolf Just Nilsen was born in Oslo, Norway. His parents were Bjarne Olav Just Nilsen and Magnhild Herland. He was the nephew of another well-known actor, Leif Juster. In 1954, Rolf married Arna Aukland. They had two children together, a son named Lars and a daughter named Brita.

Sadly, Rolf passed away on May 9, 1981, at the age of 49. He was performing in a show called L/L Wang & Nilsen at Det Norske Teatret in Oslo when he died.

Rolf's Acting and Singing Career

Rolf Just Nilsen started his acting career in 1947. His first stage performance was at Studioteatret in a play called Vintersolverv. He worked there until 1950.

After serving in the military, Rolf joined the Chat Noir theatre in 1952. He became very popular there. His big breakthrough came in 1958 in a show called Så lenge lykken varer. He performed a funny act called "Operasangeren" (The Opera Singer).

Rolf worked at several famous theatres throughout his career:

  • From 1959 to 1965, he was at the Edderkoppen Theatre.
  • From 1965 to 1968, he returned to Chat Noir.
  • From 1968 to 1970, he worked at Det Norske Teatret.
  • From 1970 to 1976, he was at Oslo Nye Teater.
  • From 1976 until his death in 1981, he was back at Det Norske Teatret.

Rolf in Movies

Rolf Just Nilsen also acted in movies. His first film was Bustenskjold in 1958. This movie was based on a popular comic strip. He played the main character in two funny movies:

  • Operasjon Løvsprett (1962)
  • Operasjon Sjøsprøyt (1964)

He also appeared in other films like Stompa forelsker seg (1965), To på topp (1965), and Reisen til julestjernen (1976).

His Voice and Music

Rolf was famous for his amazing voice imitations. He could copy the voices of many different people, which made his performances very funny. He even recorded special monologues where he would playfully imitate well-known Norwegian politicians.

He also sang many popular songs. Some of his most famous songs include "Pappa'n til Tove Mette" and "Julekveld i skogen" (Christmas Eve in the Forest). Rolf also recorded songs especially for children. In 1965, he released a children's album called Superoptikjempefantafenomenalistisk. He continued to record albums for kids from 1977 to 1980. For his work, he was awarded the Spellemannprisen in 1980, which is a big music award in Norway.

In 1976, Rolf Just Nilsen received the Leonard Statuette. This award is given to people who have made a great contribution to Norwegian revue and variety shows.
