Ron Davies, OBE (born December 17, 1921 – died October 26, 2013) was a famous Welsh photographer. He was known for capturing many important moments throughout his long career. Even after an accident that meant he used a wheelchair, he continued to follow his passion for photography.

A Life Through the Lens
Early Days and a Passion for Pictures
Ron Davies was born in a town called Aberaeron in Wales. He became interested in photography when he was only 8 years old. This happened while he was working as an errand boy. He worked for a chemist shop in his hometown.
A Photographer's Journey
During WWII, which stands for World War II, Ron Davies became an official war photographer. He worked for the Air Information team. This team was part of the Royal Air Force in Southeast Asia. He was stationed in places like India, the Dutch East Indies, and British Malaya.
In 1950, Ron had an accident while riding his motorcycle. This accident meant he used a wheelchair for the rest of his life. But this did not stop him from being a photographer. He kept working and taking amazing pictures.
He worked as a photographer for many news organizations. These included HTV, the BBC, the Western Mail, and Y Cymro. He also worked for many national newspapers. Besides his news work, he created many personal projects. He also held many exhibitions to show his photos. Ron was also very interested in teaching others about photography. He helped create the first mobile darkroom for people with disabilities. This project was run by an organization called Arts Care/Gofal Celf.
Awards and Recognition
In 2003, Ron Davies received a special award. He was given the OBE for his great work in photography. The year before, he was welcomed into the Bardic Circle. This is a special group at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. The Eisteddfod is a big Welsh festival of culture.
Ron Davies passed away on October 26, 2013. He was 91 years old.
