Ron Rogers' Early Life
Ron Rogers was born on May 13, 1954, in Richmond, Virginia. He grew up in Richmond and lived there for most of his life. From a young age, Ron showed a strong passion for art. He even started creating his own comic series when he was young.
Ron went to Maggie L Walker High School and graduated in 1974. After high school, he continued his studies at both Virginia Commonwealth University and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. There, he learned about art, history, and politics. These subjects helped him become a great cartoonist.
Ron Rogers' Career in Art
Ron Rogers started his career as a freelance artist in 1980. This means he worked for different companies and newspapers without being a full-time employee. His first major work was for The Richmond Afro-American and Planet, where his cartoons were published until 1988.
Working for Newspapers
Throughout his career, Ron's art appeared in many publications across the southern United States. In 2005, he joined the South Bend Tribune newspaper. He had already done freelance work for them since 2002. Ron worked there until 2010.
