Her Early Life and Studies
Rosa Cobo Bedía was born in Cantabria, Spain. She finished her first university degree in Political Sciences and Sociology in 1981. This was at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Later, in 1983, she earned her master's degree. Her master's paper was about the ideas of a famous thinker named Jean Jacques Rousseau. In 1992, she completed her highest degree, a doctorate. Her doctoral paper also focused on Rousseau's ideas about democracy and how men have traditionally held more power. She earned top honors for her work.

Rosa Cobo helped start and led the Interdisciplinary Seminar on Feminist Studies at the University of A Coruña. This was from 2000 to 2003. She also directed a special program about gender and equality policies from 2005 to 2008.
