Rosa María Sardà i Támaro (born July 30, 1941 – died June 11, 2020) was a famous Spanish actress. She was known for her amazing work in theater, which made her one of the top actresses in Spain.

Early Life and Beginnings
Rosa María Sardà was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1941. She grew up in the Sant Andreu area of the city. This is where she first started acting in plays as a hobby. She was the older sister of a well-known journalist and writer, Xavier Sardà.
A Career in Acting
Rosa María Sardà taught herself how to act. She started in amateur theater groups in her hometown, Horta.
First Professional Steps
In 1962, she became a professional actress. She joined a theater company and performed in a play called Cena de matrimonios. After that, she worked with other theater groups, gaining more experience. In the 1970s, she starred in many important plays, like The House of Bernarda Alba.
Moving to TV and Movies
Rosa María Sardà also started working in television. In 1975, she appeared in a TV show called Una vella, coneguda olor. Later, in 1979, she hosted her own program, Festa amb Rosa Maria Sardà.
She began her film career in 1981 with the movie El vicari d'Olot. In the 1980s, she hosted another popular TV show called Ahí te quiero ver.
Later Success and Awards
In 2001, Rosa María Sardà starred in the movie No Shame. For this role, she won a Goya Award for Best Supporting Actress. The Goya Awards are like the Oscars in Spain. The next year, she acted in the comedy My Mother Likes Women. In 2005, she was in the TV series Abuela de verano, where her son, Pol Mainat, also acted.

Rosa María Sardà was married to Josep Maria Mainat, who was part of a comedy group called La Trinca. They had a son named Pol Mainat in 1975, who also became an actor. Rosa María and Josep Maria later divorced around 2002.
Rosa María Sardà cared deeply about politics and society. She described herself as someone who strongly believed in a republic, a federal system, and socialist ideas. In 2017, she returned her Creu de Sant Jordi award. This is one of the highest honors given by the government of Catalonia. She returned it because she disagreed with the Catalan independence movement and also due to concerns about a former Catalan president.
In 2014, Rosa María Sardà was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of cancer. She took a break from acting because of her illness. She passed away from the disease on June 11, 2020, in Barcelona, at the age of 78.
