Rosseau, Ohio facts for kids
Rosseau is a small place located in Morgan County, Ohio, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or a city council, unlike a big city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county, which handles its services.
A Look Back: Rosseau's History
Rosseau first started to be settled around the year 1836. This was a time when many new communities were forming across Ohio.
One very important building for the community was the post office. It opened in Rosseau in 1837, just a year after the community was laid out. Post offices were super important back then! They were where people sent and received letters, news, and packages. They often served as a central meeting spot for people in the area, connecting them to the outside world. The Rosseau post office stayed open for many years, helping the community communicate, until it closed in 1911.
