Roxana Moslehi (Persian: رکسانا مصلحی) is a scientist born in Iran. She is a genetic epidemiologist. This means she studies how our genes and the environment affect our health.
She researches different types of cancer. This includes cancer caused by radiation, like in the eyes. She also looks into why some people get ovarian cancer or breast cancer. Her work explores both genetic and environmental reasons for these diseases. She also studies other health issues. These include myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). She also researches problems that can happen during pregnancy. She is a professor at the University at Albany. She teaches about epidemiology and biostatistics in the School of Public Health. Epidemiology is the study of how diseases spread. Biostatistics uses math to understand health information.
Her Education and Career
Roxana Moslehi studied at the University of British Columbia. She earned three degrees there. These were her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. degrees. She finished her Ph.D. in 2000.
After her studies, she worked at the National Institutes of Health. This is a large research center in the United States. She was a postdoctoral fellow there. She also held a teaching position at George Washington University. Today, she is a professor at the University at Albany.
