Roy S. Williams, sometimes called Roy K. Williams, was an American baseball pitcher. He played in the Negro Leagues from 1930 to 1935. Roy was born on July 24, 1907, in Sparks, Georgia. He was a right-handed pitcher. His brother, Harry Williams, also played in the Negro Leagues. Roy passed away on July 17, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Playing in the Negro Leagues
Roy Williams played baseball during a time when African American players could not play in Major League Baseball. Because of this, they played in their own professional leagues. These were known as the Negro Leagues. Many amazing players, who later became famous, played in these leagues.
