Roycea is a group of plants, also known as a genus. These plants are now part of the Amaranthaceae family. This family includes many different kinds of plants, like spinach and quinoa.
The Roycea genus was first described in 1948. A botanist named Charles Austin Gardner gave it its name. He named it after Robert Dunlop Royce. Robert Royce was a helpful person at the Western Australian Herbarium in Perth. A herbarium is like a library for plants.
All the plants in the Roycea genus grow only in Western Australia. This means they are endemic to that area. You won't find them growing naturally anywhere else in the world!
