Ruby Nash Garnett, born on June 15, 1934, is a talented American singer. She was the lead singer of a popular rhythm and blues group called Ruby & the Romantics. They were known for their smooth songs and catchy tunes.

Ruby Nash Garnett's Music Journey

Ruby was born in Akron, Ohio. She didn't start singing professionally until her last year of high school. In 1961, she joined a group of male singers. They were touring and called themselves "The Supremes."

Soon, the group got a recording contract with Kapp Records. They decided to change their name to "Ruby & the Romantics." In 1963, they had a huge hit song called "Our Day Will Come." This song reached number one on the music charts!

They also had other popular songs. "My Summer Love" reached number 16. Another song, "Hey There Lonely Boy," made it to number 27. Over the next few years, they had more songs that appeared on the charts. However, none of their later songs were as big as "Our Day Will Come."

The group stayed together for 10 years. They disbanded in 1971. All five original members were still with the group. These members were Ruby Nash, Leroy Fann, Ed Roberts, George Lee, and Ron Mosely.

Life After the Romantics

After the group broke up, Ruby Nash returned to her hometown of Akron. She started working for a company called AT&T.

Even after the group stopped performing, their music was still remembered. In 1997, Ruby & The Romantics received a special Pioneer Award. This award came from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation. Then, in 2007, they were honored again. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. This means their group's singing was recognized as truly special.

As of 2024, Ruby Nash is the only original member of Ruby & the Romantics who is still alive.
