Meet Ruth Amos, the Inventor
Ruth Amos is a talented inventor from Britain. She came up with a clever idea to help people move around more easily. Her invention, the StairSteady, helps people with limited movement use stairs safely.
What is the StairSteady?
The StairSteady is a special device designed to help people who find it hard to use stairs. It gives them support and confidence. This means they can go up and down stairs more safely on their own.
How the Idea Started
Ruth designed the StairSteady when she was still at school. It was part of her GCSE (a type of exam in the UK) project. Her teacher challenged the class to invent something helpful for people with limited mobility. Ruth was inspired because one of her teacher's parents had recently had a stroke. A stroke can make it hard for people to move.
Ruth's product was officially launched in April 2008. This happened at a big healthcare show called Naidex. Her company, StairSteady Ltd, started selling products in September 2008.

Inspiring Young Inventors
Ruth Amos also helps inspire other young people to invent. She co-founded a YouTube channel called Kids Invent Stuff. She started it with another inventor named Shawn Brown. On this channel, kids can send in their invention ideas. Ruth and Shawn then try to build some of these ideas! The channel was even recognized by YouTube and famous inventor Colin Furze.
