Sílvia Soler i Guasch (born in 1961) is a talented writer and journalist from Spain. She writes her books in the Catalan language, which is spoken in a part of Spain called Catalonia. In 2013, her book L’estiu que comença won a very important prize called the Ramon Llull Novel Award.

Sílvia Soler i Guasch was born on October 5, 1961, in a city called Figueres. Writing runs in her family! Her mother, Carme Guasch, is also a writer. Her brother, Toni Soler i Guasch, is a journalist. Sílvia studied information science at university, which helped her learn about how to share information, like in journalism and writing.

Her Career as a Writer and Journalist

Sílvia Soler started her career as a journalist. She worked for radio stations, wrote for newspapers, and even appeared on television. Some of the newspapers she wrote for include Avui, Punt Diari, and Presència. Over time, she started focusing more and more on writing books.

Sílvia has written more than twenty books, and most of them are novels (long stories). Her very first book, Semblava de vidre (published in 1984), won an award called the Recull award. She also won the Fiter i Rossell prize for her book Mira’m als ulls and the Prudenci Bertrana Prize for Petons de diumenge.

In 2013, Sílvia Soler received the famous Ramon Llull Novel Award for her book L’estiu que comença. This novel tells the story of a friendship between a man and a woman that lasts for fifty years! One of her novels, 39+1. L’edat en què una dona sap que l’home de la seva vida és ella mateixa (from 2005), was even turned into a television show!
