This bigger area is called the Barcelona Neck Natural Resources Management Area. It spans about 341 acres. The golf course is located in East Hampton, New York, in the United States.
History of the Golf Course
The Sag Harbor State Golf Course first opened its doors in 1926. For more than 50 years, a group of dedicated volunteers helped run the course. They made sure it was a great place for people to play.
In 1989, the state of New York took over the land where the golf course is located. This was done by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This department helps protect natural places.
Later, in 1997, another state group started managing the golf course itself. This was the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. They help manage parks and historical sites across the state.
