St. Rose, Ohio facts for kids
St. Rose is a small place in Ohio, a state in the United States. It is located in Mercer County. St. Rose is what we call an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a mayor or city council. Instead, it's part of the larger county government.
The Story of St. Rose
St. Rose was officially planned out in 1854. When a town is "platted," it means someone drew up a map showing where the streets, lots, and public spaces would be. It's like designing a neighborhood before it's built.
Later, in 1878, a post office opened in St. Rose. It was called "Saint Rosa." A post office is a place where people can send and receive letters and packages. It was an important part of the community for many years. The post office served the people of St. Rose until it closed down in 1905.
