Where is Salcoatitán?
Salcoatitán is located high up, about 1045 meters (or 3,428 feet) above sea level. It is just one kilometer southwest of another town called Juayúa. It is also about 12 kilometers north of the city of Sonsonate. Being so high up, it often has pleasant weather.
The Beautiful Church of Salcoatitán
One of the most special things in Salcoatitán is its beautiful old church. This church was built a long time ago, at the beginning of the 19th century. It is made from strong materials like calicanto (a mix of lime and stone), tiles, and a sturdy roof. It has heavy supports made of bricks and stone.
The church is dedicated to a saint called San Miguel Archangel. Every year, the town celebrates a special festival in November to honor San Miguel Archangel. This festival is a time for fun, traditions, and community gatherings.
