Salena Rocky Malone was an Australian activist who worked to support human rights. She was a very active member of the LGBTI community in Australia. She helped start the IngiLez Leadership Support Group (ILSG). She also managed a place called Open Doors Youth Service. Salena passed away in May 2017.
Helping Her Community
Salena worked with the Queensland Police Service. She helped connect them with Aboriginal people and with LGBTI people. This made sure everyone felt heard and understood.
She was also part of several important groups. These included PFLAG, Dykes on Bikes, and the LGBTI Health Alliance. All these groups work to support and improve the lives of LGBTI people.
Awards and Recognition
Salena received an award for her amazing work. She won the Best Community Service award at Brisbane's Queen's Ball Awards. This award recognized her efforts at Open Doors Youth Service. She helped many young LGBTI people who needed support and guidance.
Her Passing
Sadly, Salena Rocky Malone died on May 22, 2017. She was in a motorcycle accident in Rockhampton.
