Samuel Simon Gordon (born April 21, 1878 – died November 30, 1962) was an American baseball player. He played as a first baseman in the Negro leagues from 1908 to 1913. Gordon was known for his skills on the field during a time when baseball was segregated.

Early Life and Education

Sam Gordon was born in Fraziers Bottom, West Virginia. This small town is located in the beautiful state of West Virginia. He grew up there before moving on to higher education.

Gordon attended Wabash College, a school located in Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was unusual for African-American athletes of his time to attend college. His education likely helped him both on and off the baseball field.

Playing in the Negro Leagues
