Samuel Hill (born May 2, 1926 – died April 4, 1977) was an American baseball player. He was an outfielder who played in the Negro leagues during the 1940s.

Sam Hill was born in New Castle, Alabama, on May 2, 1926. He grew up loving baseball and became a talented player. He played as an outfielder, which is a position in the outfield of a baseball field.

Playing in the Negro Leagues

Sam Hill started his professional baseball career in 1946. He joined the Chicago American Giants, a famous team in the Negro leagues. These leagues were professional baseball leagues in the United States. They were formed because African American players were not allowed to play in Major League Baseball at that time.

Hill played for the Chicago American Giants for three seasons, from 1946 to 1948. He was a good player and showed his skills on the field. In 1948, he was chosen to play in the East–West All-Star Game. This was a very special game that featured the best players from the Negro leagues.

Minor League Years

After his time in the Negro leagues, Sam Hill continued his baseball career. He played in the minor leagues, which are professional baseball leagues below the major leagues. From 1950 to 1952, he played in the Mandak League. This league was located in Manitoba, Canada, and North Dakota, USA.
